Halligan Islands undeveloped.

For several weeks, I had gone back and forth between the thought of  buying land or not. I discussed it with Meri, Babo and Zeph and received a lot of food for thought. I like the great flexibility that my own island sim would offer me, but I didn't want the huge expense.

On Halligan Islands - House by PreFabulous

I looked all around SL and found a few 'good deals' and a lot of really crappy deals. One of those crappy deals offered me 512 meters of beach-front land for only one dollar cost, but the tier was $30.00 USD.

Even the 'good deals' where in less than desirable locations. There were junky builds next door, Real Estate signs floating everywhere obstructing the view and you couldn't walk or fly too far without running into the red no entry lines.

There were some very nice places, but there didn't seem like there was much out there for me. I knew there must be a diamond in the expansive rough, but I was at a loss at finding one.

Then, as a fluke of fate, I stumbled upon Halligan Islands. It appeared to be a new sim and was part of the Anche Chung real estate empire. I IMed my good friend Babo to take a look and to give me his opinion. He agreed that the land was good - and a good deal.

Zeph has been very helpful and has been there to straighten out my messes. :)

Back in March of 2007 I first came to SL. In my travels, some ppl warned me about Anche Chung - that she was a virtual real estate land baron and drove a hard bargan.

Babo was there when I bought the land, set out the first trees and set up the property security system.

So, I already had a little negative attitude going already when I found Halligan Islands. I assumed that the price was going to be high and the tier astronomical, but I was plesently surprized that both were very reasonable.

Down the hill and across the water, this is our island too - lots of good recreation there.

In doing a little research, I discovered that Halligan Islands were a part of the set of the new Dreamland 2007 sims, testimony to the power in volume buying!

While looking around the property, it began to appeal more to me. I finally reached the point where I honestly felt that if I left, I would come back and find the land sold. It was perfect!

I was reminded by the Volkswagen TV comercial were a guy was looking at a bright, shiny, new VW and fell in love with it. You could tell that he was really smitten. As he turned around, he saw a car salesman, with a big smile, pointing toward the car, as he escorted a couple to see the car of their dreams.

The man turned and had a frightened look on his face. He was concerned that this couple was going to buy HIS car.

These wave runners get plenty of use by Meri and myself , but anyone can ride if I set them.

So, in a flash, the guy bent and placed a wet, sloppily lick on the door handle of the car. He turned and looked at the salesman and the couple - who had a totally disgusted look on their face, and took a sharp turn in a different direction. My friend Babo then asked me if I was going to 'lick the land' before someone else bought it? I laughed and went ahead and purchased the land.

So, I counted the cost. Meredith and I agreed to share the tier - and the fun in SL! We converted Meri's land to a new business. Whether that is going to take of, we just don't know. We'll try!

Much of the land purchased has been developed and is a great virtual place to live and play! There is one parcel that we own that waits for future plans to materialize. I'll post more pix if anything else exciting happens. I'm sure it will! :)
